Mark has a Mechancial Engineering degree complemented by a business education and an advanced degree. Mark’s sixteen years at EMD and his decade at one Class I railroad give him distinctive locomotive credentials. Mark’s blend of real-world experiences, including locomotive testing, allows him to offer services not readily found elsewhere. His detailed knowledge of the locomotive emissions regulations is an example of such distinctions. In addition to his years at EMD, Mark has knowledge of competitive diesel engines, their strengths and weaknesses, and their fuel & emissions limitations. Mark consults on fuel testing, emissions reduction programs, EPA approval of engine overhaul “kits”, and alternative fuels. He is also available to assist with tractive effort testing, head end power modifications, and matters of control integration. Mark also provides guidance to locomotive suppliers and expert witness testimony as needed.
